Parish Groups

Our faith community can be nourished by active participation in parish groups that meet for prayer, social action, Sacramental preparation, youth work and the support of others in the life the Church. To share our lives in these ways allows us to offer ourselves and draw strength from each other.

Acton Homeless Concern

This is a local charity who’s mission is to provide a caring and safe environment for the poor, the marginalised and those who suffer from isolation or are in any kind of physical or emotional need.

AHC runs two drop-in centres:

Emmaus House offers lunch, clothes, showers, advice on benefits and housing, GP, chiropody, optician, dentist and barber, alcohol and drug counsellor.

The Damien Centre offers Refreshments and social activities.
Monday to Friday 9.00-12noon; 2.00-6.00 pm

Altar Servers

Children who have made their First Holy Communion may be trained as Altar Servers to assist the Priest during mass.  Contact the office if you would like to pick up an application form.

Baptisms

You can pick up the relevant forms from the office.  It usually takes about 6 weeks to go through the process of attending mass and reading the relevant documents to prepare the parents for having their child baptised.  Baptisms are done for each individual family and usually take place on Saturdays at 12pm.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Liturgy of the Word for Children is a programme in which the Sunday scripture readings are proclaimed and explained on a level appropriate to children.

The children are taken from the Church to the Parish Hall at the start of the Sunday 10.30am mass and return before the offertory.

Parents are welcome to join.

The programme runs during school term time.

Church Cleaning

We are very lucky to have a dedicated group of volunteer cleaners in our parish.

Cleaning of the Church takes place every Saturday morning.

Cleaning of the hall takes place during the week.

Church Hall

We have two halls available to hire separately. The upper hall accommodates 40 people, while the lower hall accommodates 50.

Confirmation

Application forms for young people in School Year 10 and above are available from November.

Classes run from January to Eastertide.

First Communion Preparation

Saturday First Communion Classes.

Each year volunteers are needed to prepare children for the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and First Confession. Training sessions are provided.
