How Do I Register My Child For 1st Holy Communion

1st Holy Communion & 1st Confession

For primary school children in school year 3 and above. Family sessions take place on Thursdays after school from 16.30-17.00.The sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) is celebrated during Advent. First Holy Communion Masses take place during the 10.30 Sunday Parish Masses in May, dates tbc.

When a child is in Year 3 or above, they are welcome to celebrate their First Holy Communion.

There is a programme of preparation, usually from September to May, and the First Holy Communion Masses take place in May/June. During the programme, the children learn more about the life and teaching of Jesus and how they can know him as a Brother, Saviour and Friend.

The programme also includes First Reconciliation (“First Confession”), usually celebrated in Advent. This is explained to the children in a way which emphasises God’s forgiveness and love.

The catechists – are very experienced, and the programme is suitable for children of different abilities.

Parents wishing to register their child for the programme must complete the application form, scan it over to Anita Hammond with their child’s original Baptism Certificate and family photograph when the Parish Newsletter indicates.

You can download the application form by clicking the button to the right.

RE Classes for Children Attending Non Catholic Schools

Westminster Diocese requires that children attending a non-Catholic school undertake RE instruction in the Catholic faith in the preceding 6 months before starting First Holy Communion classes. We offer fortnightly Saturday morning classes led by a team of dedicated professionals in a warm and welcoming environment, journeying with children and families through the early building blocks of our Catholic faith. Families tell us how enriching these classes are to their lives.

We advertise each year in our newsletter at the beginning of the Autumn term.

“All your children will be taught by the Lord and great will be their peace.”
