Parish Groups

Our faith community can be nourished by active participation in parish groups that meet for prayer, social action, Sacramental preparation, youth work and the support of others in the life the Church. To share our lives in these ways allows us to offer ourselves and draw strength from each other.

Please contact the Parish Office for further information.

The Parish Council

A number of parishioners with skills in various areas form the parish council, appointed by the parish priest. As well as giving advice on matters of parish concern, they are responsible for the counting and banking of the weekly collection, the oversight of income and expenditure and the preparation of the annual financial return to the diocese.

Current membership: Canon Michael Brockie (Parish Priest), Mr Tony Scrutton (Treasurer), Mr Francis de Zulueta, Mr Will Tyler, Mrs Josephine Robinson, Mrs Veronique Seligman, Mr Charles Pretzlik.

Ecumenical Activities

Twice a year at different venues there are informal gatherings between ministers and church workers representing most of the local churches.

West London Churches Homeless Concern

This initiative of all the local churches seeks to provide night shelters and comfort throughout the coldest months – an ecumenical effort supported by our parish. Shelters are offered in Chelsea, Kensington, Fulham and Hammersmith. There is a Day Centre too in the King’s Road Methodist Church.

Ministry of Welcome

Tea and coffee are served in the Monckton Room after 10.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m. masses each Sunday. This Ministry provides an important outlet for meeting fellow parishioners.

Reception for New Parishioners

Held annually in the Monckton Room. Complete and return to the Rectory a blue card from the porch with your name and address. An invitation will be sent to you.

Days of Recollection

As announced in the Newsletter.

Altar Servers

The Guild of St. Stephen for Altar Servers has been established in this parish. The Master of Ceremonies is Dr. Stephen Miles.

Readers at Mass

There is an extensive list of Readers for Sunday and weekday Masses. New lists are sent out quarterly. Readers unable to meet their commitment are asked to find replacements by reference to the Readers’ list of telephone numbers supplied, and to change the list in the church porch and the Sacristy accordingly. New prospective volunteer Readers are asked to speak to the parish priest.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

A number of parishioners have been ‘commissioned’ to act as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. If any newcomers have acted in this capacity elsewhere, the parish priest would be pleased to hear from them.

Child Protection Statement

Following agreed Diocesan procedures, this parish has adopted the recommendations of the Nolan Report to ensure the safety and protection of all children and vulnerable adults in a church environment. All those having personal contact with children (and vulnerable adults) in this parish, including the parish clergy have received a clear Advanced Criminal Record Certificate according to the Police Act 1997.
