Holy Communion

The hymn for candidates to learn is here:

Audio with accompaniment

Welcome, welcome, welcome Jesus!
In my soul forever stay.
Joy and love my heart are filling
On my First Communion Day!

I adore you, I adore you,
Hidden now within my breast.
Glory, honour, praise forever
To the Lord who is my guest.

Bless me now, my loving Jesus,
All I think or do or say.
All my life may I remember
This – my First Communion Day!

Children wishing to be prepared for First Reconciliation and First Communion must be baptised Roman Catholics, in Year 3 or above at the time the programme begins and they and their parent(s) must attend Mass every Sunday in the parish.

Evidence of baptism will be required at the time of enrolment. Parents must be committed to bringing their child to weekly sessions, assist them with follow-up work at home and attend some parents’ classes during the time of preparation.

Registration for First Communion Preparation usually takes place in early July and details will be published in the parish newsletter from late May.
