A Spirituality for Living through a Time of Crisis

31st October 2020 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Edith Stein, Etty Hillesum and Simone Weil: A Spirituality for Living through a Time of Crisis

Stefan Reynolds

This workshop/retreat will be looking at three mystics, saints and writers who lived during the Second World War. They were contemporaries – all Jewish – and all came to similar wisdom about living through a time of crisis. The workshop/retreat will look at their lives and the advise they give for challenging situations. All of them – in more dramatic ways than today – found their opportunities were increasingly limited and yet found meaning in the constraints they had to live under. It is a workshop/retreat for those trying to make good use of this time of semi-lockdown.

Dr Stefan Gillow Reynolds, is author of ‘Living with the Mind of Christ: Mindfulness in Christian Spirituality’ (DLT, 2016) and ‘The Wisdom of Love in the Song of Songs’ (Hikari, 2018). He has a PhD in Christian Spirituality from London University and runs retreats for The World Community for Christian Meditation and for the Cistercian Abbey of Mount Melleray where he works. He lives with his wife in Lismore, Co. Waterford.
