Council 500 (Cockfosters and South Herts) Saint Pius X
The Order of the Knights of Saint Columba is a national association of Roman Catholic laymen, founded on the ideals of Charity, Unity and Fraternity.
Dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, it was founded in 1919 and is comprised of individual councils throughout the country which serve local parishes, supporting the clergy, organising events and raising funds for charitable projects at home and abroad, while seeking to uphold the Catholic way of life. The Order is a member of the International Alliance of Catholic Knights and our ethos is serving God by serving others through the lay apostolate.
Our local council at Cockfosters was founded in 1954, the year of the canonisation of Pope Pius X whom we adopted as our patron saint.
Serving the parish of Christ the King for nearly 70 years, our brothers have been active in all areas of parish life, assisting at parish events and organising fund-raising projects, helping with finance, administration, the on-line streaming of services and many other initiatives. We organise masses for our deceased brothers and support our widows. Membership is open to all Roman Catholic adult males.
More information on the Order may be found on our national website: www.ksc.org.uk
