Weekend message 15th December

Dear Friends,
The Third Sunday of Advent is known as Gaudete Sunday. The term Gaudete refers to the first word of the Entrance Antiphon, “Rejoice.” Rose vestments are worn to emphasize our joy that Christmas is near, and we also light the rose candle– the candle of joy (also known as the Shepherds’ candle)- on our Advent wreath.
Thank you to those who offered to take the presents to the Catholic Children’s Society. All delivered now thank you to Lisa McClelland.
The SVP has asked us to make you aware that they are distributing over 10,000 homeless packs (Vinnie Packs) during the extreme cold weather. Each pack contains thermal gloves, thermal hat, two pairs of socks, face cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, information sheets and pen. Please would you consider sponsoring packs at a suggested donation of £4.10 per pack? Donations can be sent to Vinnie Packs, PO Box 72264, London SW1P 9EZ with cheques made out to SVP or by bank transfer to Nat West sort code 60-60-04, account no. 4608 8237.
On Sunday 22nd December we will hear Confessions from 09h30 to 12h30. Please take advantage of this opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Penance before we celebrate the feast of Christmas.
God bless,
Monsignor Phelim
