First Holy Communion 2018/19

I hope wholeheartedly that this letter finds you well. I am writing to you in regards to the forthcoming First Holy Communion Programme for the year 2018-2019.

Your child/ren must be in year 3 or above in the next school year (September 2018) in order to qualify for the programme.  They must also be baptised or received into the Roman Catholic Church. The Programme will run from September to May with the aim to fully prepare your child/ren to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Communion.

You and your child/ren will be required to attend the 9.30 Family Mass weekly and fully engage in the Celebrations of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter together with attending on all Holy Days of Obligation.

The classes will take place after the Sunday 9.30 Family Mass for approximately 1 hour, a time table will be issued at the parent’s first meeting which will be on the 26th September at 7pm in the Pope John Centre, please no children as its a very busy meeting with lots of information.

If you would your child/ren to be considered please pick up an application form from the back of the Church or you can find a digital copy at the bottom of this page and the closing date will be September 13th, application received after this date will be put on a waiting list for 2019-2020.

There will be a charge for the programme and this will cover books, a children’s mass missal, clay, flowers for the FHC mass, refreshments for the children’s sessions and photocopying and printing of material and booklets for celebrations. The charge is £45 per child, if there are two from the same family it will be £40 for each, for three or over £35 each. Payments can be made in cash or cheque, if you are paying in cheque please make cheque payable to WRCDT and write on the back FHC 2019. In case you decide to withdraw your child from the programme the fee may be refunded as follows:

  • Between 1 October and 31 December full refund
  • Between 1 January and 28 February 50% refund
  • From the 1 March no refund will be given
  • In case the FHC Team in union with the Parish Priest decided to stop your child/ren a refund will be negotiated with you according to the circumstances.

When handing in the application form you will need to provide some other documentations like a Baptism certificate which you will need to get from the Church where your child/ren were baptised (copies of existing certificates are accepted), if your child/ren were Baptised or Received at this Parish just state on the form and we will find the details in the register; 2 Passport size pictures (please write down the name of your child at the back of each picture) and you need to make sure that you read through the form and fill in all the details and sign where appropriate.

Application forms will be available at the back of Church or online on our website in a Word format which you can fill in on your computer, sign and email to us.
