Weekend of Reflection on Laudato Si

From 24th February 2018 until 25th February 2018 All day

Residential Weekend 24/25th February 2018

There are still places left on the Laudato Si Weekend.

The residential weekend has been confirmed as the 24/25 February 2018 at the Focolare Centre Welwyn Garden City, and will be led by Liam Hayes, Theology Programme Adviser to CAFOD, on the encyclical Laudato Si’: On care for our common home (LS), striking in both tone and content, is a watershed document that calls us to urgent action and dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet. “We need a conversation which includes everyone, since the environmental challenge we are undergoing affects us all” (LS, #14). Liam Hayes has worked several times on this topic with Fr Zampini who has now relocated to Rome and will now be unable to lead the weekend. We are delighted that Liam has agreed to speak.

Weekend of Reflection on Laudato Si’

In Laudato Si’ Pope Francis calls us all to become more active in the work of protecting creation  –  that is, both the wider ecology of our world and our brothers and sisters living in poverty  –  and to find real answers to our planet’s social and environmental crisis, because “a technological and economic development which does not leave in its wake a better world and an integrally higher quality of life cannot be considered progress” (LS, #194).

Our weekend of Reflection will be following  the methodology of the encyclical itself – seeing what is good and what is challenging around us in our common home, reflecting on Scripture and Church teaching, asking ourselves how best to respond, and celebrating creation together

Our intention is to arrive at 9.30 a.m. on the Saturday morning and depart after lunch on Sunday around 2 pm.

Residential delegates: I am delighted to say that we have negotiated the residential rate as £ 95 per person which includes the use of all conference rooms, 1 night’s accommodation, and all meals and refreshments; this is the same rate as our 2014 and 2016 residential weekends!

Non-residential delegates: The rate is £65 per person which also includes all meals and refreshments except breakfast on Sunday.
