7pm Easter Vigil. This will be available to be heard by 9.30pm. Following the Greeting, the Lucenarium, the preparation of the fire will be omitted, and the Paschal Candle will be lit and placed in the candlestand without a procession. The Easter Proclamation (the Exsultet) follows immediately. Since there is no procession, this part of the Vigil will take place in the Sanctuary. The Paschal candle is enthroned in the centre of the church. The Liturgy of the Word follows, noting the requirements of the readings, psalms and prayers. The Renewal of Baptismal Promises will be made but there will be no blessing of water. This will be streamed live via a link through Facebook.

With public Masses suspended and a more than physical isolation being enforced we can start to thirst, thirst for the life giving waters of Christ. Please drink from this well and leave with the energy and hope needed to meet these challenging times. There is no better remedy to thirst than water and in just the same way there is no better cure to life than Christ Himself. Please enjoy what other members have shared for this area and know that you are all in our prayers.

The story of Freedom Song – slavery, suffering, faith and redemption – resonates deeply with the meaning of Easter. It also reflects how something beautiful and transformational can emerge from great hardship and suffering and reminds us that the fight against global slavery is far from over. We hope you find it uplifting during this difficult period.

Many people were moved by the streamed performance of Freedom Song: when Gospel came to the Empire last weekend and have asked us to repeat it. So we have decided to make it available over the Easter weekend and on Sundays throughout April. It will stream from midday until midnight on the relevant dates.

The links for each day, starting with 10th April – Good Friday, are available here:
