The stunning church and its presbytery is ageing and needs constant maintenance. This is just a small list of what your donations have been funding and future costs.
Roof works – water was pouring into the top room creating a waterfall when it rained heavily. The roof had been neglected for decades but in September 2023, the repair work started and it’s now completed with a roof that keeps out all the elements and the presbytery is now warm and dry. £65k.
Collapsed arch – a leaking water tank that had been ignored for 10 years resulted in a collapsing ceiling and arch but it was fixed and completed in February 2024 at £6.3k.
Replacing just 12 lightbulbs in June has cost us over £600. Each light bulb in the church ‘only’ costs £10 but it’s the labour costs and scaffolding required to replace them that racks up the bill. In addition to this, there are the essential costs of a church (candles, missal and hymn books) plus the usual utility costs (gas, electricity etc). It all adds up.
Church roof tiles were blown away in November 2023 allowing water to seep in. There’s only 3 tiles missing. There was talk about a cherry picker being required but thankfully, a 3 man team with ropes can replace the tiles so this brings the cost down to £1.7k.
We give our gratitude to God. Our church is incredibly beautiful and a wonderful place for us to express our adoration to God. Maintaining this splendour is our duty. We really are grateful for every single donation. THANK YOU!
