2ND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A, 15TH JAN 2023

From FR MICHAEL

The world is alienated from God the Creator by the actions, or inactions, of humanity. Jesus comes into the world to reconnect all humanity and creation. Jesus is the WORD of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and enters into the Creation that he spoke in order for it to be alive and active. Jesus comes to speak to our very being and re-establish communion with God Trinity

John is aware of the tremendous activity that Jesus is, but not quite knowing what it is all about. Yet John does know that Jesus has the answers.

Remember, at the Baptism of Jesus John declared, “I saw the spirit coming down on Him from heaven”. John asks humanity and all creation to witness that Jesus is the Chosen one of God. Indeed, John also states “I myself have seen and have testified that this is the Son of God”. The purpose of John’s testimony is to attract others to Jesus. What in our lives can attract others to stop and see Jesus Christ?

I will look to Christ this week.

With love and prayers Fr Michael
