4TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, YEAR A, 29TH JANUARY

From FR MICHAEL

We hear the Beatitudes in the gospel of St Matthew. Jesus teaches the people to look forward to the mercy and love of God.

When we breathe into our restlessness and dis-ease, there is an immediate shift in our self-awareness. It can happen quite quickly. This is an experience of tangible grace. It is the inner place to which Jesus went when it all became too much for him. Jesus was forever trying to overcome his fears of his demons. Not all of us try so hard. We carry a fear of depth. Many would rather perish on the surface, then explore the unknown within.

We are needing to focus on finding harmony within ourselves. It is the way of creation and incarnation. It is the way of sacrament. It is the way of the mystics. It is the way of God. The regaining of balance, of healing and of peace. We need to live in and with nature/ creation and make constant connections with God/ people/ creation. Then the Beatitudes can become the way to accept and live in the promises of the Beatitudes.

Each day we come awake to deal with the day for ourselves and for those around us. The new day begins, and can I hear myself saying ‘Lord, I am, and I can’,when I offer the words or phrase that helps me know Jesus and his simple, deep love.

God bless you, and thank you for your support for me

With love and prayers Fr Michael
