A Message from Father Christian de Lisle

“My dear brothers and sisters,

I am delighted to be starting this week as your new parish priest. I have met some of you but most I have not been able to meet because of the COVID restrictions. Please God, may this difficult time end soon.

I thought I should say a few words about myself by way of introduction. My name, as you know, is Fr Christian de Lisle. I was born in Leicestershire in 1988 to Catholic parents and was brought up in the faith there. After school I studied as a secular undergraduate at Edinburgh University. During my time at university I continued to develop a deep longing to be a priest which I had discovered at school. With the encouragement of several fine priests I approached the Diocese of Westminster to ask to be formed for the priesthood. Cardinal Vincent Nichols admitted me for training at the diocesan seminary, Allen Hall, where I studied philosophy, theology and the art of prayer. I also did training placements at many different apostolates around London, including schools, hospitals and university chaplaincies.

Since ordination in 2016 I have served as Assistant Priest at St Paul’s Church in Haringey and then in a duel role as Assistant Priest at The Immaculate Heart of Mary and St Dominic’s Church in Hackney and as chaplain of the Homerton Hospital.

I do not know the western part of the diocese well but I am sure I can come to learn about quickly.

Under the care of Our Blessed Lady and St Ignatius may my time in Sunbury be one filled with God’s grace and may we all grow in holiness together.”
