The Loyola Club

The Loyola Club is for the older members of the parish community. The group meet regularly once a month, usually in the Loyola Centre on a Saturday, for refreshments, such as tea and sandwiches, entertainment and a catch up on what’s been happening.

It is run by a splendid team of volunteers on the day – currently Ethna Clarke, Ann Roberts, Paula Goodfellow and Nikki Caesar-Gordon. They are in turn supported by other volunteers who makes sure everyone gets to The Loyola Centre, or helps with the food and entertainment as needed.

Entertainment is a feature of these get togethers and any volunteers in this area are always welcome. The Club is happy to let you practise your skills on them – whether it is magic, singing, comedy or playing the piano, they promise to be a great audience. The afternoon usually includes a quiz and there is a raffle; donations of prizes are always welcome.

Outings are arranged too. January for example brings the annual trip to Squires Garden Centre, who very kindly host the post-Christmas turkey lunch for the members.

Anyone who would like to try it out, or knows someone who might like to become part of the group, please do contact one of the above named volunteers, directly or via the church, in the first instance.
