Dear Friends,
As most of you will certainly know, I have not been too well recently and have been away from Hertford for some weeks. This coming Thursday, I have an appointment at the Lister Hospital when I should find out a little more about possible surgery on my back. Recovery from an operation is likely to take some time. I would not want Hertford to be without a Parish Priest for too long
Consequently, I have reluctantly decided to retire. The Cardinal has appointed Mgr. Seamus O’Boyle as my successor from September. I am very sad about the situation but I am confident that Mgr. O’Boyle will be an excellent replacement.
I have greatly enjoyed my time with you in Hertford. I shall treasure many memories and hope that I can keep in touch with you in the Parish in the future. Please pray for me as I shall pray for you.
