THE VIEW FROM THE PRESBYTERY

Parish Sewing Group

Monday 3rd July 10am – 1pm

If you have some skills or interest in sewing or textiles, you may just be the person we need! Do come along and meet others over tea, coffee and cake in the Church Hall. We have plenty of repair projects and restoration works that need doing in our parish. You might even learn something new or possibly be the one to pass on a new skill to another. All are welcome!

We need volunteers with portable sewing machines, sewing boxes, needles and tools that do not mind bringing them to the church hall. Any donations of fabrics, cottons, embellishments etc. are always welcome. Please bring them along or leave them with Sue Walker in the church hall.

If you are interested in participating or wish to find out more about what you can do to help, get in touch via: hertfordguildservers@gmail.com

or hertford@rcdow.org.uk

POPE’S INTENTION FOR JUNE:

For the abolition of torture. We pray that the international community may commit in a concrete way to ensuring the abolition of torture and guarantee support to victims and their families.

IF YOU GO IN TO HOSPITAL: If someone is sick in hospital, please let us know here at the Presbytery, and/or ask the staff on the ward, so that your loved one can be visited whilst in hospital, and receive Holy Communion and any other Sacraments from the Chaplain. John O’Neill 01438 314333 at the Lister hospital. The staff on the wards can also contact the Chaplain.

ROSARY GROUP: Come and join us in the church hall on Tuesday evenings at 7pm for recital of the Rosary and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

THE LOBSTER POT LUNCH: Friday 21st July at 12.45pm in the church hall. Lunches cost £15 for a three-course meal, glass of wine, coffee and chocolates. Please call Sue on 07711.

In view of the closure of the parish’s bank branch, it would greatly assist the parish if those who donate by cash would move over to a monthly Bankers Standing Order. If you wish to do this please go to the website and download the Standing Order form.

Stella Maris Sea Sunday 2023

Seafarers and fishers play a vital role in all of our lives, but they often work in difficult, hazardous conditions. In the last year, more crews have been abandoned by their employers than ever before. Many are still being denied the right to leave their ships for even a short break away from the relentless noise and pressure onboard. Many are reporting more stress and poorer mental health. Sea Sunday is Sunday 9th July. It is when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Your support will make a big difference to seafarers and fishers in need. You can donate in church, by visiting www.stellamaris.org.uk/donate, or by texting ‘SEA’ to 70460 to donate £5. This collection is vital to enable Stella Maris (formerly called Apostleship of the Sea) to continue its important work – so please give generously. Thank you.
