THE VIEW FROM THE PRESBYTERY

The equinox this weekend marks the beginning of Autumn – season of mists and mellow fruitfulness. I have always been a city-dweller, so moving out here into the country is a major change. I had never realised that Hertfordshire was still farming country! I have lots to learn.

I must apologise to the daily Mass attenders that there will not be daily Mass this week and next. The Sunday Masses will be covered. I have a long-standing commitment to attend a family gathering in New York and will be away from the Parish from Tuesday 26th September until Wednesday 4th October. It will be something of a ‘busman’s holiday’ – I am celebrating Mass for the clan, baptising the first child of a couple I married last year, attending a fundraising evening for a Charity, and also celebrating three Sunday Masses in a Parish on Long Island. They always make the most of my being around! Don’t worry – I have no further trips away from the Parish planned. This week I have managed to find myself a car – I did not need one in Central London – but realised very soon after arriving here that I cannot do without one! I hope it will be delivered when I get back from the trip across the pond. Have a good week. God bless! Fr Séamus
