Agency for Evangelisation

Westminster Diocese – The Agency for Evangelisation  provides support and resources to enable the core role of “mission” in all our lives. The Catholic Church’s mission is to carry out and continue the work of Jesus Christ on Earth. The Church, and those in it, must:

  • share the Word of God
  • help those in need
  • live as examples to all

The sharing of the Gospel and the life of Christ started with the commissioning and sending out of the 12 apostles.

“Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And look, I am with you always; yes, to the end of time.”    Matthew 28:19-20

Pope Paul VI, in the message of Evangelii Nuntiandi (On Evangelization in the Modern World) explained that Evangelisation is about sharing the Good News – the Gospels – of Jesus in every human situation and seeks to secure a faith response, redemption and salvation in Jesus by the power of the Gospels from individuals and those is wider society.

The Joy of the Gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness. With Christ joy is constantly born anew. I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of Evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.’ – Evangelii Gaudium, Pope Francis
