Confirmation

By the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.

The celebration of the sacrament of confirmation generally occurs in adolescence, completing the sacraments of initiation for our young people.

Confirmation is a continuance of what has begun at our Baptism: a continuance of the developing awareness of the reality of faith and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The challenge is to help our young people to recognise and to fruitfully draw on the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they grow into adult Christians

At our Baptism faith was conceived: we became part of Christ’s Body, part of his Church. Our receiving of Confirmation is the gentle unfolding of what our Baptism means.

Our parishes Confirmation programme is for young people (year 9 and above) who desire to take on a personal faith and find out more about living as a Christian in today’s world.

Our Confirmation Programme begins in January of each year and there is a full timetable of events.
