Children from this parish The Blessed Sacrament Church or any other parish are very welcome to prepare for their First Holy Communion at St John the Evangelist Church, 39 Duncan Terrace.

Saturday family sessions – dates and times

Families are invited to come along one Saturday per month. The sessions are engaging, spirit-filled and fun, and they are for all the family – siblings, grandparents – all are welcome! We celebrate Mass, enjoy a time of fellowship and refreshment before sharing catechesis and activities. Each month we explore a different topic e.g., The Saints, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week. The times are 9.30am to 11.30am, on Saturdays. We will be meeting either in the Crypt or in the Church. The dates are: January 31st February 28th, March 21st, April 25th, May 16th, June 27th.

Faith Formation for parents – dates and times

Each month we gather with parents and catechists to explore our faith. These sessions are designed to help parents grow in their own faith, enabling them to lead their family on their journey of faith. These sessions will be by Zoom and are on Monday evenings from 8pm to 9.30pm. The dates are: February 9th, March 9th, April 13th, May 11th and June 8th.

Growing in Faith Together (GIFT) is the pathway families take towards their child’s First Holy Communion

GIFT (Growing in Faith Together) is an exciting way of supporting families to engage with their faith. Whether you are already engaged with your faith and the Church, looking for a way to become more engaged or seeking the sacraments for your child, GIFT is for you.

Encouraging you to pray, talk about faith issues, and have more family time together is good, but we believe it is not enough. We want to provide a place for you to learn what engaging with your faith actually looks like and then give you the opportunity to do it!

What’s next?

Please read this leaflet that was given out at our September meeting and complete the application form if you’re interested. We welcome applications at any time of the year. Remember, you don’t need to be a regular church goer – but once you sign up for GIFT, we hope you’ll want to come along and you and your family are expected to come along each Sunday.
