Seminarians from St Mary’s College, Oscott, travelled to Allen Hall for a football match in Battersea Park. The spirited game ended in a nil-nil draw, a score not reflective of the passionate commitment of both teams! The staff and students of Allen Hall began the penitential season of Lent by ceremoniously burying the ‘Alleluia’, the Church’s song of joy, which will not now be heard until we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection at Easter. We wish you all a holy and prayerful Lent.

Each year Allen Hall produces a journal, Vivamus in Spe (‘Let us live in hope’), reflecting on the spiritual, pastoral, intellectual and human life of the house. the 2023 and 2022 editions can be viewed below. The 2024 edition will be published in the autumn.

The seminary celebrated the feast of Candlemas, when Christ our Lord was presented in the Temple and Simeon sung of Him as the ‘light to enlighten the Gentiles’. Mass began with the blessing of candles and procession through the seminary to the Chapel.

On Wednesday 31st January, all those involved with the academic life of Allen Hall met to discuss the intellectual life of the seminary and there was then a dinner to thank them for their contribution to the intellectual formation of the seminarians.
