A group of Allen Hall seminarians journeyed to the campus of St Mary’s University, Twickenham to give a talk on the theme of vocation. Amongst those studying at Allen Hall are students from St Mary’s University, who have taken the Sacred Theology Bachelor (STB) degree. As such, part of their studies are conducted within the seminary classrooms alongside the seminarians. The president of Cathsoc extended an invitation for the Allen Hall community to meet with a group who were interested in what we had to say and so we went and shared our experiences of vocation.
After the welcome, the seminarians spoke in pairs, starting with a general understanding of vocation before briefly mentioning the specifics of a vocation to the priesthood. After speaking about our callings, we revealed what it’s like living in the seminary community with others who are also discerning and being formed for the priesthood. Then, the reverend Deacons gave insights into what future priestly ministry holds for them.
This was the first time the seminary community had been involved with the Catholic Chaplaincy for an event at the university. We thank the Cathsoc for their hospitality and the opportunity to speak to the group! Please continue to pray for our seminarians in their discernment and formation.
