At the conclusion of the exam season, the Allen Hall Community enter a 2-week period of Enrichment Activities, ranging from trips out to talks in the Seminary. This week, the scriptures highlight the missionary activities of St. Paul, Barnabas, and their companions. Meanwhile, Christ in the Gospel prays earnestly to His Father and Our Father, that we, Christ’s Body, may remain one with the Son and the Father as we anticipate Pentecost. On Monday, the seminary travelled to North-West London’s very own Neasden Temple for a guided tour and an opportunity for inter-religious exchanges. After a brief documentary highlighting the Temple’s construction in just under 3 years, the community were allowed to view the shrines, the vast Guest Hall, and ask questions.
On Tuesday, the Seminary visited the Cardinal Hume Centre. In the Chapel, the group were given a presentation by the capable staff on the realities of family homelessness in the Westminster Diocese, the activities and ethos of the centre, and the spirituality & pastoral nature of helping those without a place to go.
On Wednesday, the Seminary visited Parliament’s Great Hall, Westminster Abbey, St James’ Palace, and planned to trace the steps of the Martyrs to Tyburn. Joanna Bogle, a dear friend of Allen Hall Seminary, led the tours and gave the seminarians an insightful explanation of the many sights along the way.
In the late afternoon, Fr Dominic O’Connor gave a Spiritual Conference on the Divine Will as taught by Luisa Piccarreta. The following day, Fr Dominic continued to teach the seminarians from the morning to lunchtime.
Thursday evening featured the annual Allen Hall Lecture. This year, the Lecture was given by Lady Oxford on the topic of Shakespeare and the Evangelisation of England. After a captivating conversation regarding the New Evangelisation and Shakespeare’s covert use of language and themes in his works. The seminarians guided the guests to the refectory for a buffet and continued conversations.
