Guest Night

Throughout the year, Allen Hall’s staff and students have the opportunity to invite guests during ‘Guest Nights’. These evenings offer those invited to the seminary a chance to join in with the liturgical and social life of the community. The Wednesday guest night typically begins with a spiritual conference delivered by the house Spiritual Director. On this occasion, the topic was on the spousal covenant of Jesus on the Cross and the duty given to all baptised Christians to share Christ’s spousal commitment with the world. Guests are then brought to the Chapel where the whole community is gathered for Eucharistic Adoration followed by Benediction. After this, there are light refreshments in the library where guests, staff, and students socialise before the rector’s welcome speech which signals the shifting of venues.

Everyone then gathers into the refectory for supper and enjoys a meal together, amidst many a conversation. The guests who can stay a while longer are then directed to the student common room where the merriment and entertainment continue. These Guest Nights are opportunities for benefactors, friends, and family to receive Allen Hall’s hospitality, meet those they are praying for, and catch a glimpse of the elements of formation. This is just one such event where the community comes together with as much fraternity as there is individuality. The Allen Hall Community extends our gratitude to all those who support us in their prayers, and deeds.
