-UPDATED- Jubilee Talks at Allen Hall

To celebrate the Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope and the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, Allen Hall are pleased to offer a series of talks exploring the Theological Virtue of Hope, its relation to the Nicene Creed, and feature St Thomas More and the Douai Martyrs as witnesses to hope. The dates and themes of the talks are as follows:

  • Saturday, 22 March (in Lent): Consubstantial with the Father – “Christ our Hope” 
  • Saturday, 7 June (Eve of Pentecost): The Holy Spirit – “Taste and Dynamism of Hope”
  • Saturday, 6 December: Advent – The Great Season of Hope in which to Contemplate the Last Things.

Furthermore, the pattern for these afternoons are as follows:

3:00 pm                Talk (with opportunity for questions/discussion)

4:30 pm                Refreshments

5:00pm                 Tour with explanation of Allen Hall’s history

5:30pm                 Sung Vespers with devotions to the Martyrs, including veneration of St Cuthbert  Mayne’s relic – ending by appx. 6pm.

These talks are open to the public. However, due to the limited avaliabilty of spaces, attendance will be limited.
