A Sacrament is an efficacious sign of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is given to us. Full and active participation in the sacramental life of the Church requires a period of preparation of both mind and heart to be receptive to the grace of new life in Christ.
Baptism of Infants – Parents hoping to have their child baptised need to come to a baptism course in preparation for this sacred moment, Keep an eye on the newsletter for the next Baptism Course.
First Holy Communion – The source and the summit of the Christian life is the Eucharist, and we participate fully in the celebration of Mass by receiving our Lord’s body and Blood. Preparation for children, in year 3 and above, to receive Communion for the first time begins by registering in early autumn. The course runs through the year and the child is expected to be at Mass every Sunday.
Confirmation – Young people in Year 9 are able to be prepared in our Parish for the sacrament of Confirmation. This sacrament confers the Holy Spirit upon the person who the Church confirms in faith. The course runs after Christmas time, in the run up to Pentecost. Attendance at Mass every Sunday is expected for someone desiring this sacrament.
RCIA – This course is for adults who want to become Catholics, or to desiring Confirmation. Perhaps you were baptized in a different church, or come from a different faith. The group meets regularly until Easter when those who are ready come forward for initiation.
