Annual Mass for Migrants: The Archdiocese of Southwark is hosting the annual London Migrant Workers’ Mass on Monday 6 May at 12:30 p.m. at St. George’s Cathedral (London SE1 6HR) Come in honour of St. Joseph the Worker to celebrate the important contribution migrant workers make to our places of work and the places we call home across the London Boroughs. The Mass will be led by Archbishop John Wilson, with bishops from the Diocese of Westminster and Brentwood in attendance. Bishop John said: “Each and every person is a gift from God. Each and every person has gifts to offer to God and to others. That is why it is such a blessing people from across the globe have made their home here. It is this diversity, which has enriched our lives immeasurably, that we will be celebrating, and for which we will be giving our thanks to God”. All are welcome to this colourful celebration and people are encouraged to attend in their national dress as part of the celebrations, with a banner procession taking place at the beginning of Mass.

Pentecost Novena: Between Ascension and Pentecost, the Scriptures tell us: “All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers…” (Acts 1:14) while they awaited to be “clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49). Traditionally, we join Mary and the disciple in these nine days of prayer (novena), asking the Holy Spirit’s love, energy and wisdom will be poured out anew on us, our church, our world at Pentecost. If you have internet access, there are many prayer suggestions for these days; for example: Cafod with email you a daily prayer.
