Registering for Mass

From 22nd July, you are requested to email the parish to indicate all Masses you wish to attend (Sunday or weekday) at St Joseph’s – so that individuals can be notified in the event of any suspected Covid-19 case.

* Simply send an email to:

* just state the date and time of the Mass(es) you will be attending (one email per family)

* if you do not have email, please ask a relative or friend to send us an email (stating your name) on your behalf

Our thanks for your cooperation!

Fr Nigel

The Catholic Churches in Stevenage

16th July 2020

Dear parishioners,

As you know, we are now permitted to celebrate Mass publicly in our parishes, with social distancing and thus reduced capacity. In response to Government guidance and for your safety, we are asking for your contact details (one person per family) so that individuals can be notified in the event of any suspected Covid-19 case. At all Masses in Stevenage this weekend, one member of each family will be asked for their name and telephone number.

From next week, for a trial period in St Joseph’s only, you are asked to simply send an email indicating which Mass(es) you are attending (Sunday and/or weekday). Parishioners should email: with their name, and date and time of Mass they’re going to. Those in Bedwell parish who do not have email but wish to come to Mass can ask a friend or family member to send the email on their behalf. This should be straightforward and fairly routine. At St Hilda’s and Transfiguration, names and phone numbers will continue to be taken on entering for the foreseeable future. Mass times are the same as pre-lockdown in all our churches. However, please note that there will be no Sunday evening (6pm) Mass in St Joseph’s during the month of August.

Just a reminder, you are encouraged to wear a face covering to Mass if possible, to sanitize your hands on entry and exit, and to ensure appropriate social distancing. Our grateful thanks to our volunteer stewards for their service, and to all of you for your patience and cooperation in these testing times!

With all best wishes,

Fr Michael Doherty SDS (Parish Priest)

Fr Nigel Woollen (Assistant Priest)
