Our Churches remain open for Mass

(updated 19/07/21

Dear parishioners,

Following guidelines just published by the Bishops, we are now able to state some changes in procedures during Mass, with view to gradual easing of restrictions over the next few weeks, as follows:

* face coverings are recommended, but not mandatory

* parishioners are encouraged to continue sanitizing their hands on entry and upon leaving church

* Signing-in: posters with NHS Covid app QR codes will remain for those who wish to use them, but manual signing-in is no longer required

* social distancing no longer being applied, the one-way system in churches is no longer required; however, we are all encouraged to be vigilant and avoid encroaching on another’s space

* congregational singing of hymns is now permitted

* the Sign of Peace at Mass remains suspended

* Stewards – are still required, to sanitize the pews after Mass, but will no longer greet parishioners before Mass or direct them to their seats. New volunteers are always welcome!

* Holy Communion – will be at its normal (pre-Covid) time, i.e. before the Concluding Prayer and final blessing. Communion from the chalice for the congregation remains suspended. Priests and EMHCs (ministers of Communion) will continue to sanitize their hands and wear face-coverings before distributing Communion.

Grateful thanks to all our stewards and volunteers for their tremendous help over the past year and more! We are all invited to continue being vigilant and caring for each other.

God bless you all,

Fr Michael & Fr Nigel
