The building is a Grade II listed which was designed by Adrain Gilbert Scott
St Mary & St Joseph Church, Poplar was built in 1951-1954, as part of the Festival of Britain‘s Exhibition, It replaced an earlier church of the 1850s which had been destroyed during the Second World War
