Children’s Liturgy
Children’s Liturgy is designed to make the faith accessible to young children. It is a real liturgical celebration that introduces children to the structure and rhythm of Mass. Scripture readings are reflected in an age-appropriate way and allow children to engage through simple discussions, songs and activities before returning to their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
While the sessions are tailored for ages 4 to 8, older children are welcome to join if they wish.
Please note there will be no Children’s Liturgy over the summer holidays but there will be a sheet with a children’s version of the Gospel and an activity in the porch. Please help yourself to these.
Children’s Liturgy will recommence at all three weekend Masses on 5/6 September. Any queries please contact Anna – whetstoneclc@rcdow.org.uk
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
This is a programme for children, which enables them to experience and form an authentic relationship with God. It is rooted in scripture and the Liturgy of the Church and based on Maria Montessori’s principles of education.
Through guided activity, with catechists trained in this method, children hear, ponder and celebrate the most essential mysteries of the Catholic faith, in a sacred place called an atrium. The children work with specifically designed, hands on materials in the atrium.
We are planning to start a level one atrium for 3 – 6 year old children this Autumn.
This will be on Saturdays between 10.45 and 12.15 in term time, starting 3 October 2026. Registration forms will be available from the beginning of September. Any queries please contact Maggie and Anna – whetstonefhc@rcdow.org.uk
Walk with Me
All children/young people ( year 2 – year 9 ) who are not in Catholic schools are invited to join us on Sunday mornings in the church hall 10 am – 10.50 in term time.
The programme will be an opportunity for children and young people to grow in their Catholic Faith as part of our parish community.
We will provide refreshments and work in groups according to age.
Christian meditation led by Fr John will be part of the programme.
Families are welcome to stay and have tea and coffee and also to join in the prayer and meditation at 10.30.
