PARISH CLERGY – Past

We would like to remember clergy, who served our parish in the past, not just the Parish Priest, who are remembered in the Parish History .

If you have old photos and/or information, please send them to garston@rcdow.org.uk to help us compile the information and gradually add it to this page so Fr Terkura has some company!

Fr Terkura Igbe MA CSSp was born to the family of Mr. Thaddeus Aosu IGBE (late) and Mrs. Dinah Anwosu IGBE:

I spent my early childhood years in Makurdi, the capital city of Benue State. I was very fortunate to grow up in a very cosmopolitan area of Makurdi called ‘High/Level’. This has been a driving force in my life hence the openness and the desire to meet people from different cultural backgrounds and different religious beliefs.

Growing up, I had always thought of becoming a medical doctor. It was a passion and my parents were so kind to encourage and orient me in that direction. Things however changed over time – on the verge of entry into the university. I changed my mind because I was ‘seduced’ by the missionary life with the Holy Ghost Fathers. This came with a cost because my parents vehemently opposed my desire to train for the priesthood. My Dad gave up the fight after a couple of months with the words, ‘Well since you are not opting to do anything bad, I have no choice but to let you do what brings you happiness and satisfaction.’ For Mum, I had to put up with her hostilities for two solid years when we finally reconciled. I believe God was more powerful than she was so she gave way to the will of God.

There are a few scriptural passages that I used on my souvenir bookmakers at ordination;

‘God chooses the weak and makes them strong in bearing witness to his name’ 1 Corinthians 1:27

‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.’ 1 Timothy 4:12

Fr Terkura served as a much loved chaplain at Chaplain to St Michael’s school and provided supply to our parish for number of years as well as amazing support during the pandemic to both parishioners and parish staff! He was resident in the Garston Parish from September 2020 to August 2022, when he moved to head a Spiritan Project in the Southwark Diocese.

Ordained 3rd June 2010, Fr Ifeanyi Chibuzo Fidelis CSSp has worked in Uganda as a curate, parish priest, school administrator and chaplain prior to his joining our parish. He is a vocalist and recording artist, author, vlogger, and co-founder of Grace Planet. His hobbies include reading, singing, watching movies and playing football. His passions include youth ministry and teaching the Word. Fr Fidelis is currently the chaplain at St Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School, St Albans.

Acts 20.24 “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify of the gospel of the grace of God.” KJV
