‘Evangelii Gaudium – Joy of the Gospel’ Sunday

In his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium – ‘Joy of the Gospel’, published in 2013, Pope Francis calls on the ‘Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.’, proclaiming the Good News, for:

‘The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus. Those who accept his offer of salvation are set free from sin, sorrow, inner emptiness and loneliness. With Christ joy is constantly born anew.

Pope Francis tells us that every ‘Baptized member of the Catholic faith is called to evangelize – that is to share the Good News of the Gospel, and to lead others to Jesus Christ.’

We are all called to be ‘missionary disciples’, and the Parish, “a community of communities, a sanctuary where the thirsty come to drink in the midst of their journey” is also “a centre of constant missionary outreach”.

On Saturday you are invited to come along to a Parish Coffee Morning, Sat 14th Sep 10am-12noon, in the parish hall. It will be an opportunity to meet old friends and new faces.

As we move forward from the pandemic, and have had time to catch up with all those people and events we have missed, the Parish Coffee Morning sees the start of ‘growing the parish anew’. I hope you will be able to join us. – Deacon Adrian
