First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion – Sycamore Films for Parents & Carers

Parents and Carers of those children making their First Holy Communion in May 2024, you are invited to attend a short series of films which aim to support you as you support your child in their journey of faith.

Sycamore Films explore the Christian faith and its relevance for life today. Each film session gives space to meet other parents, share ideas, explore your beliefs and think about questions that really matter.

Growing in your faith will be a sure way of helping your children grow in their faith, as they journey towards the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion.

Each film is presented by Fr Stephen Wang, a priest of Westminster Diocese, who explores a particular aspect of the Christian faith and Catholic teaching, with the help of some questions for discussion.

Each session will last an hour and a quarter, and light refreshments will be provided. There are four films, two each to accompany Reconiliation and Holy Commuion:

Reconciliation Programme:

(1) Tue 10th Oct, 7.30pm in parish hall – WHO IS JESUS? – He came to bring life to the world. The Saving Death of Jesus. The light of the Resurrection

(2) Tue 17th Oct, 7.30pm in parish hall – FORGIVENESS, HEALING AND MISSION – Forgiveness and the Sacrament of Confession. Healing and the Sacrament of the Sick. Christian mission and the call to share our faith.

First Communion Programme

(3) Tue 5th Mar, 7.30pm in parish hall – THE HOLY EUCHARIST – The meaning of the Mass. The Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

(4) Tue 12th Mar, 7.30pm in parish hall – THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE CHURCH – How the Holy Spirit can change your life. No one gets into heaven alone. Why we need signs, symbols and sacraments.
