Community life

Faith is not just something we practise alone — it is something we live together. At Our Lady of Lourdes, our community groups are the heartbeat of parish life. They are where friendships are formed, where the lonely find company, where the housebound know they have not been forgotten, and where the simple act of sharing a cup of tea after Mass becomes something quietly profound.

Whether you are looking to connect with others, serve your neighbours or simply get out and enjoy life alongside your fellow parishioners, there is something here for you.

Tea and coffee

Every Sunday after the 9am and 10.30am Masses, the parish hall is open for tea, coffee and good conversation. It is one of the simplest and most important things we do as a community — a chance to slow down, connect and enjoy one another’s company.

We are always looking for volunteers to help. If you can spare an hour on a Sunday morning, please contact the parish office.

The Visiting Group

Our Visiting Group is one of the most quietly impactful ministries in the parish. A dedicated group of parishioners meets regularly to support one another in the work of visiting those who are lonely or housebound in our community — offering friendship, a listening ear and practical help such as shopping or gardening.

If you know someone in the parish who would benefit from a visit, or if you would like to join the group yourself, please contact the parish office.

Church cleaning

A clean and cared-for church is a welcoming church. Our volunteer cleaning team gives their time every week to keep our sacred space in good order — the church on Saturday mornings and the hall during the week.

We are always glad to welcome new volunteers, even on an occasional basis. Please contact the parish office if you can help.

Flowers

Our flower arrangers bring beauty and life to our church throughout the year, marking the seasons of the liturgical calendar with colour and care. If you have a talent for flower arranging and would like to contribute, please contact the parish office.

Prayer Group

Our Lady of Peace Prayer Group meets every Friday evening at 7pm in the church — a space for quiet, communal prayer in the heart of the week. All are welcome, whatever your experience of prayer.

Running Club

Our parish Running Club meets on the last Saturday of each month, gathering outside the church at 6am before heading to the parish hall for breakfast together. It is a wonderful way to combine a healthy start to the weekend with great company.

To sign up, forms are available at the back of the church and can be handed in at the sacristy or presbytery.

Bingo

Bingo runs every Monday and Thursday in the Parish Hall from 12pm to 3pm — a lively, friendly and very popular fixture in the parish week. Everyone is welcome.

Knights of St Columba — Council 252 Acton

The Knights of St Columba is a Catholic voluntary organisation committed to the service of the Church and the community. Our local council meets regularly and welcomes new members. Please contact the parish office for more information.
