Social Outreach Valentine’s Day Celebration – February, 2026
A wonderful time was had by all at the most recent Social Outreach event celebrating Valentine’s Day! A “Mystery Guest” provided the entertainment. See if you can spot him in the pictures below…

At our recent parish AGM many people expressed a desire that the parish organise a pilgrimage. Since pilgrimages are integral to celebrating the Church’s Jubilee Year, on Saturday 20th September 27 of our parishioners walked the “Westminster Way”. This is a roughly 6.5 mile pilgrimage route through Central London, laid out by the Diocese of Westminster, from Tower Hill to Westminster Cathedral with stops at five fascinating and historic churches along the way. On the walk we had the opportunity to learn the various aspects of sainthood and the contribution of the English martyrs to the life of the Catholic Church in this country. Everyone had an enjoyable time!

Our youngest participant, aged 10, walked “arm-in-arm” with our oldest participant, aged 90!
On Tuesday, 9 September the St Luke’s Church Social Outreach Team organised an Afternoon Gathering with refreshments and games in the Parish Hall. It was a great success with about 48 people enjoying a super afternoon tea with a Quiz, Bingo and lots of chatting.

Since 1300, when Pope Boniface VIII inaugurated the first Holy Year, this celebration has been cherished by the faithful as a profound moment of grace. To help everyone fully engage with the blessings of this holy year, the diocesan website offers a wealth of resources and links.

Several churches within the diocese have been designated as official Jubilee Churches by Cardinal Nichols, including:
Westminster Cathedral
St Gregory the Great, South Ruislip
St Mary & St Joseph, Poplar
Corpus Christi, Covent Garden
The Shrine of Our Lady of Willesden
Our Lady, Queen of Apostles, Welwyn Garden City
A central focus of the Holy Year is the forgiveness of sins, especially through the granting of indulgences—a powerful expression of God’s boundless mercy. The diocesan website provides a comprehensive guide on how to receive the Jubilee Indulgence within the Diocese of Westminster.
