Adult Initiation (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults are received into the Church community. The RCIA prepares adults for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, usually celebrated at the Easter Vigil. For additional information on the RCIA, contact the Parish Office.
Reception of the already baptized into full communion with the Catholic Church.
Those already baptized but seek full communion with the Church usually participate and journey alongside the Catechumens preparing in the RCIA programme. Those already baptized either in the Catholic Church (who have not received the Eucharist confirmation, or reconciliation) or those from Christian bodies separated from the universal Church are prepared for the sacraments of Penance, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation, and usually received at Easter.
There are no special requirements for candidates and all are very welcome.
Our parish RCIA programme starts in the Autumn. Candidates explore the elements of the Catholic faith in their weekly meetings their catechists and prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation at Easter. The programme includes a service of enrolment at Westminster Cathedral for all the candidates from the Diocese of Westminster. A Mass of Thanksgiving, also at the Cathedral, concludes the celebrations.
Please speak to the Parish Priest if you have any questions about receiving the Sacraments as an adult, or if you would like to know more about the Catholic faith.
