Volunteering to Ministries

ALTAR SERVERS

Pope Francis encourages altar servers: “Be holy and offer your hands, thoughts and time to Jesus” The altar servers are to call to serve the altar as invisible hands to help the priest to celebrate the Eucharist.

We have altar servers with silver medal and many with bronze medal from Guild of Stephen.

We invite all those who are interested in altar serving. We have training for altar servers on all February Saturdays at 10.30 am at St Gabriel’s Church.

MUSIC

“One sings with love prays twice” which is normally attributed to St. Augustine.

General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM 2002)stressing the importance of singing during Eucharistic celebration notes: The Christian faithful who gather together as one to await the Lord’s coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing together psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (cf. Col 3:16). Singing is the sign of the heart’s joy (cf. Acts 2:46). Thus Saint Augustine says rightly, “Singing is for one who loves.”  There is also the ancient proverb: “One who sings well prays twice.”
