Safeguarding Officers
The Parish Safeguarding Representative was introduced in September 2001 following a recommendation from “A Programme for Action” published by Lord Nolan.
The Catholic Bishops Conference of England & Wales and the Conference of Religious of England & Wales have accepted the report in its entirety and all parishes and religious communities must implement the report’s recommendations to fulfill the appropriate duty of care for “Children, Young Adults and Vulnerable Adults”.
Our Diocese has drafted a specific procedure whereby all individuals, helpers/volunteers involved must be screened/checked by the Criminal records Bureau.
