The minimum age of preparation for these two sacraments is Year 3 (ie 7 or 8, depending on the date of the child’s birthday at the time of celebration)
Eligibility for Preparation
In order to be accepted for preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and Communion, children must fulfil these criteria:
– be a baptised Catholic and in Year 3 or above
– attend a Catholic school or have completed at least one academic (school) year of parish Religious Education sessions (though there may be some flexibility on this .).
In addition, families should:
– be resident in and attend Mass at Northfields parish
– be fully committed to the preparation process, details of which can be found on the application form
