Children and Parents
A baby, toddler and carer facility is available at each of the Sunday masses, 9.00am, 10.30am and 12 noon. Mass is live streamed to a warm, comfortable, carpeted room in the parish hall (The Margaret McHugh Room) and communion is brought for distribution by a lay minister.
Toilets, baby change facilities and bottle warming facilities are available. A carer must stay with their child.
This facility has been welcomed by parents either on a regular basis or on those days when their baby is particularly crotchety, or upset. Some parents with children with additional needs also find this facility better for their child than the large church environment. Occasionally parents who know they have to rush away can find this facility helpful too.
Children’s Liturgy
This liturgy is available at the 10.30am Sunday Mass. Children from Reception to Year Three are invited to leave the church after the opening hymn for their own liturgy led by trained and safeguarding vetted adult leaders, Carers are welcome to accompany their child if they wish. The readings of the day are broken down to an accessible level for the children who rejoin their parents at the Offertory hymn.
Parents should note that children may bring back “gifts” to be laid at the altar in which case the live streaming service will capture their image. Advise a catechist if you do not wish for this to happen.
