The Roman Catholic Parish of Hemel West will be hosting the Catholic Theology lecture series starting on Saturday 18th  February at 10am. We are inviting expert theologians as lecturers to look at Catholicism holistically. Let’s know God so we can truly love Him!

The lectures are free to attend but we would appreciate a pot of food to share and a donation for the lecturers. Any help on the day will be received gratefully (putting the chairs up, , tidying up, coffee & tea etc. You know the drill!)

All lectures are held at the parish centre at St Mary & St Joseph HP1 1NR, (next to Three Blackbird’s pub and opposite the church), on Saturday mornings starting from 10:00. We will share lunch then end the lectures by 3pm.

The course is organised so that each topic relates to provide holistic understanding of Catholicism. So we recommend you attend all four.

To attend, please register here:: https://parish.rcdow.org.uk/hemelhempsteadwest/events/ and look for the date of the lecture, as advertised above.

Recommended pre attendance reading (not mandatory but it will be beneficial) :

For all lectures – Sheed Frank, Theology for Beginners (San Francisco, Ignatius press, 1957), this one is               short and easy to read.

Church History – Duffy Eamon, Saints and Sinners, A history of the popes, (London, Yale University Press, 1997). Or, look for the TV series on Youtube by searching “A History of the Popes, Saints & Sinners, upon this rock”.

Old Testament – Bible, obvioulsy but try to at least read some of the narrative books (Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Kings, Ezra abd Nehmiah).

New Testament – Again, Bible, but try to at least read Matthew, Romans and Revelation.

Do come and let’s start something new with each other, friendship, faith-sharing, Faith in Action to Love In Action!

Blessings!

Fr Brian
