Baptism

baptism

In baptism, you are truly made an adopted child of God, forgiven and saved through Jesus, and filled with his Holy Spirit. You become a member of God’s family, the church, and equipped to make disciples of Jesus too.

Many Catholics receive this sacrament as infants. Before infants are baptised, the parents (and often the godparents as well) receive preparation for their child’s sacramental faith journey. Adults and teenagers who have not been baptised and who wish to become Catholic usually participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. After this period of formation, they receive the Sacraments of Initiation, which includes Baptism.

The church requires a reasonable hope that the parents will raise the child in the Catholic faith before a child is baptised. Families where Mass attendance is irregular are invited to a review period before attending baptism preparation and setting a baptism date.

If you are interested in registering your child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, please fill out this form, email it to kensalnewtown@rcdow.org.uk , and will be in touch.
