The vaccine roll-out in the UK has meant the pandemic seems to be slipping off the news agenda.
But the pandemic’s still here. More than four-in-five people in low-income countries haven’t had a single jab. Billions are unprotected and at risk of illness and death.
Rich countries have promised to provide vaccines to poorer nations. But they’ve failed to properly deliver on those pledges, with some even supplying vaccines which are too close to their expiry date to be used.
And with so many members of our global family unprotected, we run the risk of the virus evolving into even more dangerous variants. No one is safe until everyone is safe.
We need the G7 group of rich countries to take real action to support low-income countries when they meet at the end of June.
Ahead of the meeting, urge the Prime Minister to push fellow leaders to roll-out the vaccine to the world.
