UPDATE FROM KANYIKE

Joy has lived with the HIV/AIDS virus for 20 years.  She could easily have died at a very young age.

But monthly treatment at our Anti-Retroviral Clinic (ART) boosted her immunity and the provision of eggs and porridge improved her diet. She now lives a healthy life.

She has become a highly skilled dressmaker, thanks to a training course.  Her business is attracting customers and she is beginning to live an independent life.
Joy is always very happy and positive and is a role model for the many teenagers living with the virus.

Her life has been saved and given a new direction thanks to the Kanyike Project.

80% of the Kanyike villagers are
VULNERABLE WOMEN and GIRLS
aged between 18 and 35.

These vulnerable women and girls live in extreme poverty and suffer significant physical, emotional, or mental problems, often because of domestic violence.

Of girls aged 12 to 17, 6% have already given birth and 6.5%  been in a sexual relationship. Their health is poor and they often die young. They cannot pay for basic medical care.

Currently, most have no way of earning an independent living.
Our solution?
Provide training in SOAP MAKING
To give the vulnerable women and girls economic independence, by training them how to make and sell soap, could break the cycle of poverty and bring them hope.

They will gain the confidence to fight for their rights
Where will the funds come from?

The Kanyike Project intends to raise enough money to train 120 women to make soap through the Big Give Christmas Challenge

We have successfully taken part in this Challenge for five years and are confident our supporters will back us again in 2023.

Donations made on-line between Tuesday 28 Nov and Tuesday 5 December will be DOUBLED – thanks to the generosity of the Big Give’s backers!
