Reconciliation is usually celebrated before First Communion (as a child or as an adult) and afterwards throughout our lifetime as an occasion when we are reconciled with Christ and the Christian community. When an adult or older child is baptised just before they take the Eucharist (First Communion) for the first time, the Baptism replaces First Confession and that person celebrates confession on those later occasions after Baptism when they need reconciliation/ Forgiveness. Most churches post up times of this sacrament for those who wish to come anonymously in a “Confession Box” or “Reconciliation Room”. But you also have the option to make an appointment with a particular priest to celebrate this Sacrament. Just contact the priest of your choice direct.
A priest is available to hear Confessions in the Holy Apostles church every Saturday at 5.00pm . Confessions can be heard at other times by arrangement; please contact Fr. Chinedu. During the Church seasons of Advent and Lent (in preparation for Christmas and Easter), services of Reconciliation are held in the parish. We prepare for the sacrament with music, prayers, silence and a reflection led by a priest. There is then the opportunity for individual Confession and absolution – either with Fr. Chinedu or a number of visiting priests who are usually present at these services.
