HCPT Group 51

Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT) is a charity which takes over 1000 disadvantaged children and children with physical or learning disabilities on life-changing pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes in France every year.

The pilgrimage holidays give the children a confidence boost, the opportunity to feel that their disability or disadvantage does not act as a barrier to engaging in fun activities; they have a meaningful, special holiday and the children’s families have some respite.

HCPT is organised into local “family” groups which consist of a leader, chaplain, nurse, helpers and children. Each child has at least one dedicated helper who acts in loco parentis for the week-long holiday.  The helpers are all volunteers who pay their own fare and fundraise to pay for the children’s fares.

Our local group of HCPT, Group 51, takes approximately ten local children and young people to Lourdes each Easter and they always have a fantastic time. We do plenty of singing, dancing and all the children have their chance to shine and feel special in our various activities.

Our Group has been taking children to Lourdes for over 30 years but has been based in Sunbury since 1997. We are all really committed to continuing this support for such special children for many years to come.
