My dear brothers and sisters,
I am delighted to be starting this week as your new parish priest. I have met some of you but most I have not been able to meet because of the COVID restrictions. Please God, may this difficult time end soon.
Last Sunday, 4 October, Father Michael celebrated his last Sunday Mass as parish priest at St Ignatius before his well deserved retirement. He was presented with a book of good wishes from the parish and Helen Lasek on behalf of the parish said the following words:
October’s 100 Club Draw has taken place and revealed the winners as follows:
First Prize of £60 goes to Liz and John Tough
Second Prize of £30 has been won by ex-parishioner Martin Brennan for Lara
and Third Prize of £20 goes to Rachel Finn.
Thanks to everyone who supports this parish fundraising effort, as well as to Helen and Marek for organising it!
We have no start date, as yet, regarding the resumption of meetings, or for hiring the hall for parties etc. This includes the continuation of Catechetical Programmes for first Holy Communion and Confirmation.
The Covid-secure requirements for Halls are complex. Some of the activities of those who regularly hire our Hall involve physical exercise and contact with one another; these are an additional complication.
Like other parishes, the loss of revenue from regular groups and Hall Hiring is having an impact on our parish income but we can only open when it is safe to do so for all users. Please bear with us.
For those parishioners that like to keep to a routine in this spiritually testing times Masses will be streamed at our usual Mass times from other parts of the Diocese as follows. Click on the appropriate link below to stream:
6.00 pm St. Teresa of the Child of Jesus, Borehamwood
9.30 am St Hugh of Lincoln Letchworth Herts
11.30 Church of St Mary, Hampstead Parish
If you know anyone who is without internet and would like to access celebration of Mass, it should be possible in the UK on the Irish station Radio RTE.
It broadcasts on 252 long wave and it should be possible to tune in. The full quota of Holy Week ceremonies will be broadcast on Radio RTE at the appropriate times.
Unfortunately DAB will not pick this up in the UK.
