Anointing of the Sick

If you, or someone you know, is suffering a serious illness, please ask for the priest to come to anoint you to ask for Gods comfort and healing and for the forgiveness of sins. As the Bible says “Is anyone sick among you? Let him bring the priest of the Church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. This pray, made in faith will save the sick man, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed any sins they shall be forgiven” (James 5).

It is appropriate to request the Sacrament of the Sick before major surgery.

If you are caring for someone who is sick or housebound Holy Communion can be brought to them. Call into the Rectory and give their details. In this way they can remain a part of their faith community.

If you are admitted to Hospital, perhaps because of some serious illness, or in the event of some accident or emergency, please be aware that, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, you must ask for your details to be passed to the hospital’s Roman Catholic Chaplain and state that you would like the RC Chaplain to visit. A form to fill in to do this is available to download here.
