If you, or someone you know, is suffering a serious illness, please ask for the priest to anoint you – this anointing brings great strength in suffering.
It is appropriate to request the Sacrament of the Sick before major surgery.
If you are caring for someone who is sick or housebound Holy Communion can be brought to them. Call into the Rectory and give their details. In this way they can remain a part of their faith community.
If you are admitted to Hospital, perhaps because of some serious illness, or in the event of some accident or emergency, please be aware that, in accordance with the Data Protection Act, you must ask for your details to be passed to the hospital’s Roman Catholic Chaplain and state that you would like the RC Chaplain to visit. A form to fill in to do this is available to download here.
Whilst you are in Hospital it is the Chaplain who will look after your spiritual needs. If you are a Carer, please be aware of this also.
In the sad event that illness leads to bereavement, information on what to do next is available here.
