Background: The Sports and Cultural Society (S.C.S) was launched in the Year of Faith on 21st Oct 2012 and is one of the largest and most active groups in our Parish. We focus on 6 pillars within our Church, youth and wider community mainly 1) Spiritual, 2) Formation, 3) Parish Service, 4) Parish Social activities, 5) Fundraising for Parish and finally 6) Sports as medium to unite the Youth and community (our Church is a member of Pope John Paul II Foundation for Sports which was awarded on 2nd Nov 2012)
For e.g
We enact the Live Way of the Cross during Lent, annual advent play, Carol singing. In the past we have organised Rosaries, Adorations and Prayer events. We have arranged Altar Servers Day, Youth visits to the basilica of Our lady of Walsingham, Parish Women’s Day Celebrations for International Women Day, helped fundraising for Parish, World Youth Day, Justice and Peace, St Vincent de Paul and other Parish events. As a Parish team, we even took part in a nationwide attempt to smash the Guinness World Record for the largest number of Christmas carol singers – singing at the same time!
Pre pandemic we have had tournaments for Football, Table-tennis, Volleyball, Cricket, Throwball, Basketball, 10k steps challenge, Cricket and also Family Sports Fun Day
We help organise various feast masses where possible
We now have the SCS Choir too (refer on the website under Liturgical Music Ministry)
During the pandemic, the SCS members have been working tirelessly in various ways to support the community through helping foodbank, livestreaming, Church cleaning, emergency social media , Social causes, Helping with the reopening of the church and ensuring our Church remains open, Mental Health Coffee mornings, 10k challenge, etc.
The above is only list of some of our activities – we have many more events that we have done for our beautiful parish in the last so many years.
The Sports and Cultural Society (S.C.S) of our parish is reaching out to all our youth, young adult, working adults or anyone 16 and above years old.

Where and When do we meet?: Once a month (timing TBC) but we meet regularly when planning for events).
